Bridon American Surcharge
Rod costs, like all
steel products, have seen unparalleled increases over the past four months and
the costs continue to rise with no end in sight. We are forced to pass along
these increases and we hope that you are also passing along these increases. The
cost of scrap metals and raw materials have pushed rod prices to their highest
level ever and the weak dollar makes the US scrap market a target for offshore
buyers which pushes the prices for scrap up even higher.
Rod changes are now happening weekly or
twice a month. We may have to raise prices again during the month of May. I
think that prices will continue to rise in the next few months.
