Construction has begun on the railroad and is expected to be completed by February 2003, thanks in large part to the efforts of the Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority, Luzerne County Engineer's Office, and Luzerne & Susquehanna Railway Company. "This railroad has been nearly eight years in the making and these organizations have made a great effort to help Bridon American continue to be a successful company and large employer in our area," states Churchfield. "We are grateful for all their help, and especially for the assistance of Bob Connolly, Executive Director of the Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority, Steve May, President of the Luzerne & Susquehanna Railway Company, and State Representative Raphael Musto, who played an important role in seeing this railroad through to completion."

Railroad Construction an Asset to Bridon American |

(Wilkes-Barre, PA) Bridon American, a leading worldwide manufacturer of wire rope and cable, is pleased to announce the construction of a railroad track into their Hanover Industrial Park wire mill. This railroad will enable Bridon American to have the raw materials used in making their wire ropes delivered directly to their mill via train. The materials are currently being brought in daily by a large number of trucks. The railroad will eliminate the need for the trucks, which often cause traffic congestion on the Industrial Park's main road, and make it possible to increase the amount of the raw materials, mainly steel rod, brought into the wire mill. Bridon American President, John Churchfield, is enthusiastic about what the railroad opening will mean for the company and the community, "This provides us with a more efficient method of delivering our raw materials to the wire mill and will help the overall operation of the mill run more smoothly, adding to Bridon American's reputation as an industry leader in the design and production of wire ropes. I am also pleased that other companies located in the Industrial Park will be able to utilize the railroad as well, making it a worthwhile investment for the entire Park."
